The 2007 Rugby Union World Cup will be the sixth world cup in rugby history, hosted by France in the autumn of 2007.
This world cup will have 20 nations contesting 48 matches over 44 days. Forty two matches will be spread between ten French cities, four matches will be played in Cardiff and two matches in Edinburgh.
The eight quarter-finalists from the 2003 Rugby Union World Cup (Australia, England (2003 champions), France, Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa, and Wales) all received automatic entry, with the other teams selected from a qualifying series around the world.
