ABCD

This article is about the mnemonic. ABCD is also an acronym for American Born Confused Desi.

ABCD was also a saying in World War II that means America, Britain, China, and Dutch.

ABCD is a mnemonic for memorizing essential steps in resuscitation.

• A - airways - clear the airways
• B - breathing - restore respiration
• C - circulation - restore circulation
• D - drugs/defibrillation - defibrillate/give drugs (adrenaline, atropine, etc.)

In the UK the mnemonic DR ABC is commonly used.

The general public do not normally have the knowledge or authority to administer drugs.
