Aaliyah (album)

Aaliyah was a 2001 self-titled album by the American singer Aaliyah; it was her third and last album. The album debuted in the top 5, but quickly jumped to number one following her death from a plane crash in August 2001. The album went on to go double platinum (selling 2.4 million records). Despite the album's success, the singles were not as successful as those on her previous LP, One In A Million.

Aaliyah was hailed as the singer's most mature project. Nearly all of its tracks were written by Steve "Static" Garrett, with Missy Elliott contributing the album's third single, "I Care 4 U", which had been written for One in a Million, but never recorded.
