Abaza family

The Abaza family is the biggest and most popular family in Egypt. Their number in Egypt alone is said to reach 50,000 people. They are also said to have branches of family in Turkey, Holland and Iraq. Famous people are:

  • Wagih Abaza : Founder of Peugot Egypt and fomer governor of Cairo and Damanhour and one of the Free Officers along with Gamal Abdul Nasser
  • Tharwat Abaza : A very famous novelist and a very big name in Egyptian literature
  • Aziz Abaza : A popular poet in Egypt.
