Adolfas Mekas (born 1925 in Lithuania) is a Lithuanian film director. He immigrated to the United States and started Film Culture magazine with his brother Jonas Mekas in 1954. He directed a number of films including Hallelujah The Hills , a landmark of the New American Cinema . In 1971, Mekas founded the Peoples' Film Department at Bard College, where he continued to teach until retiring in May of 2004.
