Aelius Herodianus

Aelius Herodianus (c. AD 180-250) was a Greek grammarian in ancient Rome, in the time of Marcus Aurelius.

The son of Apollonius Dyscolus, he was born in Alexandria. From preserved fragments, his work seems to have concentrated on accentuation , or the relative stress on words' individual syllables. He moved to Rome where he produced his General Prosody, dedicated to Marcus Aurelius. Other works included an Atticist lexicon called the Philhetaerus and a study of anomolous words.
