Agere Systems

Agere Systems Inc. is a company that was spun-off from the Microelectronics Group of Lucent Technologies on June 1, 2002. Agere was the name of a Texas-based electronics company that Lucent had acquired in 2000. The company currently develops, integrates and sells optoelectronic and integrated circuit components used in high speed communications networks. As of 2002, the company planned to exit the optoelectronics market by June 2003.
