Andrew Denton

Andrew Denton (born 1960), Australian comedian and television presenter, is the host of the ABC's weekly interview programme Enough Rope. He is considered to be one of Australia's best interviewers and is known for his ability to mix humour with dead seriousness and usually manages to avoid accusations of bad taste . During the 1990s, he worked on or hosted many other TV shows including The Money or the Gun, Live and Sweaty , and his own show, Denton. His support of the South Sydney Rabbitohs is quite famous, as is his alleged argument with its former chairman.

At one point, he launched a public subscription to hire a bounty hunter that would capture Christopher Skase, who was attempting to avoid extradition to Australia at the time. When told that his repeated statements against Skase could expose him to legal action, Denton said, "If he's got a problem, he can come here and sue me."

Andrew Denton studied Media/Communication at Charles Sturt University. He also practiced law before beginning his career in the media. There is a rumour circulating around the Bathurst campus that the words "Towers Power", which were written on one of the roofs of the John Oxley Village dormitory area, was his doing. Denton is reported to have lived in the Towers dormitory buildings (JOV are Towers' rivals in many CSU Bathurst battles) during his time on campus.

Denton's long-time partner is prominent television journalist Jennifer Byrne ; their son, Connor, was born in 1995.
