Once a model for the entire Asian continent and feared and envied by its Southeast Asian neighbors, particularly during the 1950s and 60s, the Armed Forces of the Philippines has since been surpassed by all other armed forces in the region and now is one of the weakest, most underfunded, most antiquated, and most politicized.
