Atlantic City (song)

Atlantic City is a song written and recorded by rock musician Bruce Springsteen. The song appears on Springsteen's 1982 album Nebraska, which is generally considered one of Springsteen's darker albums musically.

The song depicts a young couple's romantic escape to Atlantic City, but also wrestles with the inevitability of death.

The opening lines of "Atlantic City" reference gang violence in neighboring Philadelphia, with Springsteen singing: "They blew up the chicken man in Philly last night. They blew up his house too."

The song also references Atlantic City's struggle with gambling.

In a tribute to Springsteen, the song also was later recorded by the modern rock group Counting Crows.
