Mangrove Swamp

(Redirected from Avicenniaceae)

Mangrove swamps are a characteristic for the tropical and subtropical coasts. Mangrove occupies the shallow and intertidal zones along coasts bordered by shallow water, protected from direct wave action, and well developed with muddy or fine sediment bottoms. The nature of bottom sediments depends on the mother source which may be calcareous from the sea itself or terrigenous from the surrounding mountainous zones.
