Backpacking is traveling long distances with a backpack. Two forms can be distinguished.

Backpacking (wilderness) is the complete combination of hiking, camping and adventure tourism.

Backpacking (urban) is a subculture of generally youthful travellers exploring the planet on a limited budget.
