Balwearie High School

Balwearie High School is a non denominational comprehensive school in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland catering for boys and girls from S1 to S6. The school has a Department of Special Education covering stages P1 to S4.

The school was opened as a comprehensive in 1972. It is composed of two blocks linked by a bridge corridor. There are two cafeterias, a library/Information Centre, a gymnasium, swimming pool and Games Hall, open to the general public. The school is attractively set within its own spacious grounds which incorporate a 400m blaes running track, pitches for football, hockey and rugby, tennis courts and it's own unique nature trail.

The senior management team consists of the Headteacher, Mr G D McKenzie OBE, Depute Headteacher, Dr J More, and five Assistant Headteachers. Subject Departments and Guidance are managed by Principal Teachers with support from Assistant Principal Teachers.

The total staff complement of the school is 138 teachers, 9 instrumental instructors, 27 clerical/auxiliary staff, 5 technicians, a librarian and 4 janitors.

The day is divided into six 53 minute periods. There is an 8 minute registration period at the start of the day, and 4 minutes for registration at the beginning of the afternoon.
