Banco Itaú

Banco Itaú it is a private-owned bank with its headquaters in Sao Paulo, Brazil. It is Brazil 4rd major bank, only behind Banco do Brasil, Banco Banespa and Bradesco. The first two are public (owned by the government) banks.

It was created in 1945, from the Banco Central de Crédito, and from then on merged with several banks including Banco Federal de Crédito, Banco Sul Americano, Banco da América, Aliança, Português do Brasil, União Comercial, Pinto de Magalhães, BFB - Banco Francês e Brasileiro, Bankers Trust New York, Banco Itaú Europa Luxembourg, Banco Del Buen Ayre, Banerj (Rio de Janeiro) (1997), o Bemge (Minas Gerais) (1998), Banestado (Paraná) (2000) e o BEG (Goiás) (2001) and Banco BBA-Creditanstalt S.A. (2002) (BBA).

Its Assets amount to R$Bi 130.4 in 2004, and R$Bi 3.8 Net Income.

Its Chairman is Olavo Egydio Setubal, and Roberto Egydio Setubal is the CEO.
