Bebenhausen

Bebenhausen is a historical village in Baden-Württemberg. It is located 3 km north of Tübingen in the middle of the state nature protected area of the Schönbuch. It is located on route 464 connecting Böblingen and Tübingen. It was founded in 1183 by Pfalzgraf Rudolf von Tübingen . Bebenhausen is famous for its monastry, the Kloster Bebenhausen .

It became a municipality in 1823. King William II of Württemberg lived until his death in 1921 along with his wife duchess Charlotte zu Schaumburg-Lippe until her death in 1947. It became the seat of Württemberg-Hohenzollern from 1947 and until 1952 when Baden-Württemberg was created. In 1974, it became a district of Tübingen.
