Beggars Banquet is The Rolling Stones' follow up album to the psychedelic Their Satanic Majesties Request. It was released in 1968, and many believe this album cemented their place in rock and roll history. It marked a return to their blues-rock roots in many ways, yet retained influence of styles they had previously explored. Its first track, "Sympathy for the Devil" is one of the Stones' all time classics, which is a combination of history from the Devil's point of view and a take off of the satanic accusations toward the Rolling Stones. It contains another classic, "Street Fighting Man", one of the Stones' forays into political music.

In August 2002 this album was reissued in a new remastered and SACD digipak by ABKCO with the rest of their Decca/London catalog, originally released in the 1960s and early 1970s.

In 2003 the TV network VH1 named Beggars Banquet the 67th greatest album of all time.
