Blow up (professional wrestling)

Blowing up or a blow up is when a wrestler gets either winded, fatigued or exhausted when they are in or starting a match. The Ultimate Warrior was known for blowing up on the entrance ramp prior to his matches due to his energetic entrances.

To prevent blow ups, restholds are used at certain points during a match. A resthold can be any submission hold, usually a sleeper hold or chinlock, in which both wrestlers can rest and recover from fatigue. Meanwhile, the commentators will talk about how the wrestler applying the hold is wearing his opponent down, even when smarks and smart fans know the real purpose of the hold.
