Robert E. Lee "Bob" Pettit (born December 12, 1932 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana) is a former pro basketball player. He was one of the NBAs best players in the late 50s and early 60s. In 1958 Pettits St. Louis Hawks beat the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals four games to two, becoming the only team to beat a Bill Russell-lead Celtics team in the Finals. Both teams would also met in the 1957, 1960 and 1961 Finals, with Boston winning each time. Pettit ended his career in 1965, becoming the first NBA player to eclipse the 20,000 points mark.
