Bunka

Bunka (文化) was a Japanese era after Kyōwa and before Bunsei and spanned from March of 1804 to April 22 (?), 1818. The reigning emperors were Kōkaku and Ninkō.

Change of Era

Due to the start of a new cycle of the Chinese zodiac, on the 11th day fo the 2nd month (old calendar) of Kyōwa, the era was changed to Bunka ("Culture" or "Civilization")
