Clapham South tube station is a station on London Underground's Northern Line. It is on the boundary between Travelcard Zone 2 and Zone 3, and lies between Clapham Common and Balham.
Clapham South tube station has a lovely aspect onto the southern edge of Clapham Common. A famous location near the tube station is High Trees House on Nightingale Lane. A dispute over the rent to be paid by a tenant who was living there was the foundation for the decision in Central London Property Trust Ltd v. High Trees House Ltd [1947] K.B. 130 wherein Lord Denning expanded on the English law doctrine of promissory estoppel.
It is one of eight London Underground stations which has a deep-level air-raid shelter underneath it.
