The Committee of the Regions (CoR) is an institution of the European Union created by the Treaty of Maastricht. It aims at increasing the participation of European regions in community life. The CoR, whose seat is in Brussels, is composed by 222 representatives of regional and local governments.

The Committee has a consultative character, and is asked for its opinion by the Council or the Commission on the following issues:
- education
- training
- culture
- public health
- fight against drugs
- Trans-European Networks
- social and economic cohesion
- structural funds
On certain issues it works in cohesion with the Economic and Social Committee.
