Computer Sciences Corporation

Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) is a software services company headquartered in El Segundo, California, USA.

CSC's history began in April 1959 when it was founded by Roy Nutt and Fletcher Jones , with the goal of providing programming tools such as assemblers and compilers. The company was quickly successful, and went public in 1963, the first software company to be listed on a national exchange.

As of 2004, it has around 91,000 employees worldwide and has clients in 80 locations across six continents. CSC defines itself as a global information technology (IT) services company. These services include systems design and integration; IT and business process outsourcing; Applications software development; Web and application hosting; Research; and management consulting. Headquartered in El Segundo, Calif., CSC reported revenue of $13.8 billion for the 12 months ended Jan. 2, 2004.

Since 1968, it has traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol CSC.
