CrimethInc.

(Redirected from CrimethInc)

CrimethInc., also known by other names, such as CWC ("CrimethInc. ex-Workers' Collective") or Crimethinc, is more a mindset than an organization. It is a profoundly anticapitalist (as well as anticommunist), critical look at culture, politics, life, work, and a radical way of living one's life. It has been chiefly associated with the North American anarcho-punk scene. The name is a reference to "Crimethink" in Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Among their most well-known publications are the books Days of War, Nights of Love, Evasion, Recipes for Disaster: An Anarchist Cookbook and the pamphlet fighting for our lives (of which they printed 350,000 copies, the largest ever publication of an anarchist text), the hardcore punk/political zine Inside Front , and the music of several hardcore punk bands, of which the most notable is Catharsis. The group also maintains several websites which promote their ideas.

CrimethInc.'s politics are in themselves eclectic. As well as the traditional anarchist opposition to the state and capitalism, they have at various times advocated straight-edge lifestyle, including veganism, the total supersession of gender roles, violent insurrection against the state, turning one's life into a series of moments, and the refusal of work. They also incorporate anarcho-primitivist elements.
