Crystal Beach was an amusement park in a town of the same name near Niagara Falls, Ontario. The park closed in 1989. It was located on Lake Erie. Among its rides was a large wooden roller coaster, the Comet, which has since been moved to Six Flags Great Escape in Lake George, New York.
When it first opened in 1888, it was served by steamboats from nearby Buffalo, New York. Boat service would continue to connect the city with the park until 1956. For many years afterwards a large portion of its patrons were Buffalo-area residents. A local joke about residents of the wealthy suburb of Amherst was that they spent their summer vacations at Cape Cod rather than Crystal Beach.
