Deportivo de La Coruña

Real Club Deportivo de La Coruña, S.A.D. is a Spanish Football club.

Real Club Deportivo de La Coruña (abbreviated "Depor") was founded in 1906. Its home stadium in A Coruña (Galicia) is called Estadio Municipal de Riazor and holds around 35,000 spectators.

It has a range of skillful and talented players such as Fran, Juan Carlos Valerón, Albert Luque, Mauro Silva, Jorge Andrade, Walter Pandiani, and Diego Tristán. Deportivo have won the Spanish league (La Liga) once (2000), the Copa del Rey twice (1995, 2002), and the Supercopa de España three times (1995, 2000, 2002).

In the 2004 UEFA Champions League, Depor knocked out last year's runners up Juventus. Then, in the quarterfinals, it continued its surge by defeating defending champions AC Milan in improbable fashion, erasing a 4-1 deficit in the opening leg in Milan with a stunning 4-0 win in A Coruña. This is the largest comeback ever in a knockout Champions League tie. However, Depor lost to eventual champion FC Porto of Portugal in the semifinals on a 0-1 aggregate score.

Curiosity

The club still keeps the city name "La Coruña", no longer official for the city, but still widely used by the population.
