Blattaria (cockroaches)
Mantodea (mantids)
Dictyoptera includes two groups of insects, the Blattaria (cockroaches) and the Mantodea (mantids, or praying mantises). Traditionally Dictyoptera has been considered an order, with Blattaria and Mantodea being its two suborders. Nowadays, however, the cockroaches and mantids are usually considered different enough to be each given their own order, and Dictyoptera is shifted to superorder status.
A closely related order within the Insecta is Orthoptera, or grasshoppers, crickets, locusts, Jerusalem crickets, and katydids.
