The Dilleniales are an order of dicotyledons, comprising the elephant apple family, Dilleniaceae . Under the Cronquist system they also included the peony (Latin Paeonia) is a separate family, and served as the prototype for the subclass Dilleniidae , which is abandoned in newer schemes.
