Doug Dye

Dr Doug Dye is a retired New Zealand scientist. He was a leading scientist in plant bacteriology for New Zealand. Dye established the ICMP culture collection from his own working collections, and has published extensively on bacterial pathogens. He co-formulated the pathovar naming system adopted internationally for nomenclature of plant pathogenic bacteria.


In 2004, Landcare Research named one of its Auckland laboratories the DW Dye Microbiology Laboratory in his honour. He attended the naming ceremony.
