FTP server

The term FTP server can mean one of two things:

1. a computer responsible for serving any kind of files, via the FTP protocol to FTP clients which can also web browsers;
2. a software program that implements the FTP protocol and is working as a daemon serving any kind of files.

Connections to FTP servers are made using FTP clients or certain web browsers that function as FTP clients.
