Fandi Ahmad is an ex-Singapore national footballer with more than 100 caps. He is considered by many to be the best ever footballer in the Singapore national football team, and was strong and fast in his youth. He graduated from the ITE in Singapore and played in the Dutch football league (Eredivisie) with FC Groningen.
In Groningen's only season of European football, he scored two goals against FC Barcelona, helping them to a win. Although he was offered a place by Ajax Amsterdam at one point, he chose to return to Asia where he plied his trade in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
He coached Singapore Armed Forces Football Club previously and won numerous titles with them though in his final season was a rather disastrous one.
He is currently (as of Dec 2004) the assistant coach of the Singapore national team and the coach of Singapore U-21 national team.
