Feather-plucking

Feather-Plucking: occurring in many bird species world-wide for a variety of reasons. Studies have shown that wild birds do so to maintain adequate body temperature, and is a form of body temperature regulation. Domestic, or pet birds, can also display forms of this behavior for thermal or psychological reasons. Common house pets tend to show emotion through the feather-plucking process. Depending on whether they feel neglected, sad, or joyful is sometimes associated with feather-plucking. Visiting a vet for domestic pets is highly recommended.
