Gatekeeper

  • Literally, a Gatekeeper is a person who guards or monitors passage through a gate. When toll roads were in use in Britain the gatekeeper was responsible for manning the toll gates.
  • Figuratively, Gatekeeper is used to mean a person or group who controls access to something or somebody.
  • With reference to H.323 a Gatekeeper is an entitiy that manages a H.323 zone, providing address information/translation and other services to the terminals within the zone, and for Gatekeepers managing other zones.
