Geophone

A device which converts ground movement (diplacement) in to voltage. This voltage is recorded at the recording station. The deviation of this measured voltage from the base line is called the sesmic response and analysed for structure of the earth. Geophones can be both digital and analog. The preference is towards digital phones these days.
