Nitrogen group

The group 15 elements(a.k.a. group VA) are elements in periodic table group 15 in the periodic table. The group is also known as the Nitrogen Group.

The elements are:

• nitrogen
• phosphorus
• arsenic
• antimony
• bismuth
• ununpentium (unconfirmed)

The name pnictogens is also sometimes used for this group; it is not approved by IUPAC. The spelling pnicogen is also recorded. Both spellings derive from the Greek πνίγειν (pnigein), to choke or stifle, which is a property of nitrogen.
