Gunn (Valkyrie)

In Norse mythology, Gunn was one of the Valkyries. Together with Rota and Skuld she attended the battle fields and chose those who were to be slain and taken to Valhalla. She is mentioned on the Rök Stone (being part of a kenning for wolf): I say this the twelfth, where the horse of Gunnr sees fodder on the battlefield, where twenty kings lie, and in Snorri Sturluson's Edda:

Sá hon valkyrjur
vítt um komnar
görvar at ríða
til Gođţjóđar:
Skuld hélt skildi,
en Skögul önnur,
Gunnr, Hildr, Göndul
ok Geirskögul;
nú eru talðar
nönnur Herjans,
görvar at ríða
grund valkyrjur.

Völuspá.
