Basslink

The Basslink is a HVDC link between the static inverter station Loy Yang on the Australian mainland and the static inverter station George Town in Northern Tasmania. The Basslink is a monopolar HVDC with a maximum transmission rate of 600 megawatts and an operating voltage of 400 kV. It consists of a 290 kilometre long submarine cable, a 60.8 kilometre long overhead power line section on the Australian mainland, a 6.6 kilometre long underground cable on the Australian mainland, an 11 kilometre long overhead line section in Tasmania and a 1.7 kilometre long underground cable section in Tasmania.
