Infosys Technologies Limited (incorporated in 1992, in operation since 1981) is an India based global IT Services , IT Solutions and Technology Services Major. It is headquartered in Bangalore, India and is listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and The National Stock Exchange (India) and the New York Stock Exchange. Founded in 1981, it became a public limited company in India in 1992 and successfully completed an IPO in 1993. It is listed at Bombay Stock Exchange, National Stock Exchange of India and NASDAQ.

With 36750 employees and revenues of US $ 1.59 billion it makes Infosys one of India's major Information Technology companies

Seven IT professionals formed the company - N.R. Narayana Murthy, Nandan Nilekani, N.S. Raghavan, S. Gopalakrishnan, S.D. Shibulal and K. Dinesh. Nandan Nilekani is the Managing Director, President and CEO. Narayana Murthy is the Chief Mentor.

In 1997 Infosys attained SEI-CMM level 5. In 2001 and again in 2002, it was rated "Best Employer in India" by Business Today and "India's Most Respected Company" by Business World .

Currently, Infosys employs approximately 36,750 software professionals in about 30 offices worldwide as of 2005, working on varied areas mainly in consulting, software and product development. The main office and development center is located at Electronics City, Bangalore which is one of the largest IT campuses in the world.

Most of the revenue is generated through consulting and IT services. Infosys expects to cross US $ 2 billion in revenues for the fiscal year to end March 2006.

Infosys has offices in the following cities in India: Bangalore, Mangalore, Mysore, Pune, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram and Mohali.

Around 13000 professionals work at the Electronics City campus in Bangalore. The campus provides amenities like food courts, super market, ATMs and bank extension counters, one of the largest gymnasiums in Asia and a mini golf course among others. It is usual for the foreign dignitaries visiting Bangalore to make a visit to the campus.

Around 4000 software professionals work in the Pune development centre (Phase 1). The second phase of the Pune development center covers an area of 110 acres (450,000 m²) and, once fully built up, will have a total capacity of 25,000 professionals.

Finacle, a banking software product, is the universal banking solution from Infosys. As of November 2004, it has been deployed in various banking institutions in 38 countries around the world.

InStep

InStep is Infosys' internship program offered to university students who are from many parts of the world. The bulk of the interns work in the main campus at Electronics City, Bangalore, though a few are available globally. The interns are offered a stipend, free airfare, accommodation, food, and city transportation. Although they officially mention deadlines for applications, they recruit all year round. Each intern is usually assigned to one mentor. They are able to work in many areas of the company including Corporate Planning with top management. The premise of the internship is to promote the corporate brand globally while interns gain business or technical work experience.

Infosys Foundation

In 1996, Infosys created the Infosys Foundation in the state of Karnataka, operating in the areas of health care, social rehabilitation and rural upliftment, education, arts and culture. Since then, this foundation has spread to the Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa and Punjab.
