Jáchymov

Jáchymov (originally Thal, later Sankt Joachimsthal in German) is a spa town in the Czech Republic, located at the St. Joachim's Valley in the Ore Mountains. Population: 2,800.

It is well-known for the coins (tolar - which is where the word dollar comes from) minted from the silver from a rich mine at Jáchymov, and for the pitchblende that contains uraninite.
