Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok is the name of an administrative county (comitatus or megye), in present Hungary, and also in the former Kingdom of Hungary.

Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county lies in central Hungary. It shares borders with the Hungarian counties Pest, Heves, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, Hajdú-Bihar, Békés, Csongrád and Bács-Kiskun. The rivers Tisza and Körös flow through the county. The capital of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county is Szolnok. Its area is 5582 km². Before approximately 1990, the name of the county was Szolnok, just like its capital city.
Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok (former county)
Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok is also the name of a historic administrative county (comitatus) of the Kingdom of Hungary. Its territory, which is presently in central Hungary, was slightly smaller than that of present Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county. The capital of the county was Szolnok.
Geography
Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county shared borders with the Hungarian counties Pest-Pilis-Solt-Kiskun, Heves, Hajdú, Békés, and Csongrád. The rivers Tisza and Körös flow through the county. Its area was 5373 km² around 1910.
History
Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county was formed in the 19th century from the territories of Szolnok, Jászság (Jazygia ) and Nagykunság (great Cumania). After World War II, the territory of the county was modified: the area on the left bank of the Tisza around Tiszafüred was taken from Heves county, and the area around Dévaványa went to Békés county.
