Jack-in-the-Green

Jack-in-the-Green, also known as the green man, in faerie mythology, was the nature spirit of the greenwood, celebrated throughout Europe. His image, a green-clothed male with vegetation coiled around him, adornes many medieval period churches. He is a trickster, especially targetting those who show a disposition for natural law. He is also the inspiration from which many classical folk heroes, such as Robin Hood and the green knight.
