Jeanne of Navarre

Jeanne (or Joan or Johanna) of Navarre (c.1271 – April 4, 1305), Queen Consort of France, was the daughter of Henry III of Champagne and Blanche of Artois. In 1274, upon the death of her father, she became Countess of Champagne and Queen of Navarre.

At the age of 13, Jeanne married Philip IV of France on August 16, 1284, becoming Queen a year later. The crowns of Navarre and France were henceforth united. Their children were:

1. Louis X 'le Hutin' - (October 4, 1289 - June 5, 1316)
2. Philippe V 'le Long' - (1293 - January 3, 1322)
3. Charles IV 'le Bel' - (1294 - February 1, 1328)
4. Isabelle - (1296 - August 23, 1358) who married Edward II of England

Their three eldest sons would become Kings of France and their younger daughter Queen of England. Jeanne herself died under mysterious circumstances; one chronicler even accused her husband of having killed her.
