Kanchanaburi (Thai กาญจนบุรี) is a city in the west of Thailand. Geographical location . Population 52,000. It is located at the confluence of the river Kwai Noi and Kwai Yai, where in 1942 the famous Bridge on the River Kwai was built by POW of the Japanese. A memorial and two museums: The Thailand-Burma Railway Museum (opened in March 2003), the JEATH War Museum about the bridge, the Death Railway, and a World War II Allied cemetery are also located in Kanchanaburi.
