The Leven Canal canal runs a little under 4 miles from the River Hull the village of Leven, Yorkshire . It opened in 1805 and closed in 1935 The canal was large enough to handle Yorkshire Keels and mostly carried agricultural produce, coal, lime and building materials. The canal is currently in water (although the lock connecting it to the river hull as been replaced by a weir) but navigation is not allowed due to the canal's status as a SSSI.
