Museum in Docklands

The Museum in Docklands, which is an offshoot of the Museum of London tells the story of London's Docklands. It opened in 2003 and is located in a group of early 19th century dock-side sugar warehouses on the Isle of Dogs, a couple of minutes walk from the Canary Wharf development.

The museum uses the latest presentational techniques and has a large collection of historical artifacts, models, and pictures. It is a substantial museum with twelve main galleries which are arranged in chronological order. The periods covered range from the first port of London in Roman times to the closure of the central London docks in the 1970s and the subsequent transformation of the area with new commercial and residential developments.

There are often talks and events, connected with the Docks. Several dockers worked on the docks in the sixties take part in these events, including one from the Pentonville Five.

Admission is 5 pounds, and the ticket lasts for one year from the date of issue.
