National Socialist Party

There have been a number of groups calling themselves the National Socialist Party or similar names. Most of them are Nazi or Neo-Nazi parties such as:

Prior to the rise of Adolf Hitler, however, when the name carried none of its present connotations, several centrist or left wing parties also used the term "National Socialist":

The name is commonly avoided these days by all except for neo-Nazi groups, due to the association of the phrase "National Socialism" with Nazism. This association is not automatically made outside of the west. In North-Eastern India, for instance, there are at least three groups using similar names, two factions of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (which is a separatist group advocating independence of Nagaland from India) and the National Socialist Party of Tripura.
