Norman Boyd Kinnear

Sir Norman Boyd Kinnear (August 11, 1882 - August 11, 1957) was a Scottish zoologist.

Kinnear was the son of an Edinburgh architect. He worked as a voluntary assistant at the Royal Scottish Museum from 1905 to 1907. After a recommendation by William Eagle Clarke , he was Curator of the museum of the Bombay Natural History Society from November 1907 to 1919, as well as assistant editor of the Bombay Natural History Society Journal. In 1920 he became an assistant in the Department of Zoology at the Natural History Museum, becoming Keeper of Zoology in 1945, and Director of the Museum in August 1947. He retired on April 30, 1950 and was knighted in June of that year.

Kinnear was president of the British Ornithologists' Union from 1943 to 1948. He also served on the Councils of the National Trust and the Zoological Society.
