Open Root Server Confederation

The Open Root Server Confederation, Inc. (ORSC) is a non-profit organization, incorporated in 1998, which manages an alternate DNS root. It was originally formed to bid on a contract to manage the main root DNS servers but alternatively ICANN was selected by the US Department of Commerce for this task.
