Oxford Internet Institute

The Oxford Internet Institute (OII) is a multi-disciplinary institute based at the University of Oxford and housed at Balliol College. It is devoted to the study of the societal implications of the Internet, with an aim to shape research, policy and practice in the UK, Europe and around the world.

The Oxford Internet Institute was launched by an endowment from The Shirley Foundation , with public funding from the Higher Education Funding Council for England and the foresight of colleagues at the University of Oxford and its Colleges. The director of the Institute is Professor William Dutton .
