Oxidoreductase

In biochemistry, an oxidoreductase is an enzyme that transfers electrons from one molecule (the oxidant) to another (the reductant). They are classified as EC 1 in the EC number classification of enzymes. Many of these enzymes are commonly known as oxidases, reductases , peroxidases, oxygenases , hydrogenases , or dehydrogenases.
