PC 97

The PC '97 standard is a set of design requirements developed by Microsoft and aimed at making PCs easier to use by maximizing cooperation between the operating system and hardware. This translates into being able to attach any standard device (modem, video card, network card, scanner, CD-ROM, etc.) to a mainboard (motherboard) meeting the PC '97 standard, and the operating system will recognize the device and configure it automatically.
